Reasons and solutions for blackening of laser welding machine welds ‌

‌The core reason why the weld of the laser welding machine is very black is usually due to the incorrect airflow direction or insufficient flow of the shielding gas, which causes the material to oxidize in contact with the air during welding and forms black oxide. ‌

To solve the problem of black welds in laser welding machines, the following measures can be taken:

‌1. Adjust the flow and direction of the shielding gas‌: Ensure that the flow of the shielding gas is sufficient to cover the entire welding area and prevent oxygen in the air from entering the weld. The airflow direction of the shielding gas should be opposite to the direction of the workpiece to ensure effective isolation of the air‌.

2‌. Optimize the surface treatment of the material‌: Before welding, use solvents such as alcohol and acetone to thoroughly clean the surface of the material to remove oil and oxide film. For materials that are easily oxidized, pickling or alkali washing can be used for pretreatment to reduce surface oxides‌.

3‌. Adjust the laser parameters‌: Set the laser power reasonably to avoid excessive heat input. Appropriately increase the welding speed, reduce heat input, and prevent the material from overheating. Use pulsed laser welding to achieve more precise heat input control by adjusting the pulse width and frequency‌.

‌4. Improve the welding environment‌: Clean the working area regularly to prevent dust and moisture from entering the welding area. When conditions permit, use closed welding equipment to isolate external impurities.

The above methods can effectively reduce the problem of blackening of welding seams and improve welding quality and efficiency.
