Laser engraving machine maintenance

1. Replace water and clean the water tank (it is recommended to clean the water tank and replace the circulating water once a week)

Note: Before the machine works, make sure that the laser tube is full of circulating water.

The water quality and water temperature of the circulating water directly affect the service life of the laser tube. It is recommended to use pure water and control the water temperature below 35℃. If it exceeds 35℃, the circulating water needs to be replaced, or ice cubes need to be added to the water to lower the water temperature (it is recommended that users choose a cooler or use two water tanks).

Clean the water tank: first turn off the power, unplug the water inlet pipe, let the water in the laser tube automatically flow into the water tank, open the water tank, take out the water pump, and remove the dirt on the water pump. Clean the water tank, replace the circulating water, restore the water pump to the water tank, insert the water pipe connected to the water pump into the water inlet, and tidy up the joints. Power on the water pump alone and run it for 2-3 minutes (so that the laser tube is full of circulating water).

2. Cleaning of the fan

Long-term use of the fan will cause a lot of solid dust to accumulate inside the fan, causing the fan to make a lot of noise, which is not conducive to exhaust and deodorization. When the fan has insufficient suction and poor smoke exhaust, first turn off the power, remove the air inlet and outlet pipes on the fan, remove the dust inside, then turn the fan upside down, pull the fan blades inside until they are clean, and then install the fan.

3. Cleaning of the lens (it is recommended to clean before work every day, and the equipment must be turned off)

There are 3 reflectors and 1 focusing lens on the engraving machine (reflector No. 1 is located at the emission outlet of the laser tube, that is, the upper left corner of the machine, reflector No. 2 is located at the left end of the beam, reflector No. 3 is located at the top of the fixed part of the laser head, and the focusing lens is located in the adjustable lens barrel at the bottom of the laser head). The laser is reflected and focused by these lenses and then emitted from the laser head. The lens is easily stained with dust or other contaminants, causing laser loss or lens damage. When cleaning, do not remove the No. 1 and No. 2 lenses. Just wipe the lens paper dipped in cleaning fluid carefully from the center of the lens to the edge in a rotating manner. The No. 3 lens and the focusing lens need to be taken out of the lens frame and wiped in the same way. After wiping, they can be put back as they are.

Note: ① The lens should be wiped gently without damaging the surface coating; ② The wiping process should be handled with care to prevent falling; ③ When installing the focusing lens, please be sure to keep the concave surface downward.

4. Cleaning of the guide rail (it is recommended to clean it once every half a month, and shut down the machine)

As one of the core components of the equipment, the guide rail and linear axis have the function of guiding and supporting. In order to ensure that the machine has a high processing accuracy, its guide rail and linear axis are required to have a high guiding accuracy and good movement stability. During the operation of the equipment, a large amount of corrosive dust and smoke will be generated during the processing of the workpiece. These smoke and dust will be deposited on the surface of the guide rail and linear axis for a long time, which will have a great impact on the processing accuracy of the equipment, and will form corrosion points on the surface of the guide rail and linear axis, shortening the service life of the equipment. In order to make the machine work normally and stably and ensure the processing quality of the product, the daily maintenance of the guide rail and linear axis should be done carefully.

Note: Please prepare dry cotton cloth and lubricating oil to clean the guide rail

The guide rails of the engraving machine are divided into linear guide rails and roller guide rails.

Cleaning of linear guide rails: First move the laser head to the far right (or left), find the linear guide rail, wipe it with dry cotton cloth until it is bright and dust-free, add a little lubricating oil (sewing machine oil can be used, never use motor oil), and slowly push the laser head left and right several times to evenly distribute the lubricating oil.

Cleaning of roller guide rails: Move the crossbeam to the inside, open the end covers on both sides of the machine, find the guide rails, wipe the contact areas between the guide rails and the rollers on both sides with dry cotton cloth, then move the crossbeam and clean the remaining areas.

5. Tightening of screws and couplings

After the motion system has been working for a period of time, the screws and couplings at the motion connection will become loose, which will affect the stability of the mechanical movement. Therefore, during the operation of the machine, it is necessary to observe whether the transmission parts have abnormal sounds or abnormal phenomena, and if problems are found, they should be strengthened and maintained in time. At the same time, the machine should use tools to tighten the screws one by one after a period of time. The first tightening should be about one month after the equipment is used.

6. Inspection of the optical path

The optical path system of the laser engraving machine is completed by the reflection of the reflector and the focusing of the focusing mirror. There is no offset problem in the focusing mirror in the optical path, but the three reflectors are fixed by the mechanical part, and the possibility of offset is relatively large. It is recommended that users check whether the optical path is normal before each work. Ensure that the position of the reflector and the focusing mirror is correct to prevent laser loss or lens damage. ‌

7. Lubrication and maintenance

A large amount of lubricating oil is required during the equipment processing to ensure that all parts of the equipment can operate smoothly. Therefore, users need to ensure that the equipment needs to be lubricated and maintained in time after each operation, including cleaning the injector and checking whether the pipeline is unobstructed.
