How to maintain the lens of the laser cutting machine?

The optical lens is one of the core components of the laser cutting machine. When the laser cutting machine is cutting, if no protective measures are taken, it is easy for the optical lens in the laser cutting head to contact suspended matter. When the laser cuts, welds, and heat treats the material, a large amount of gas and splashes will be released on the surface of the workpiece, which will cause serious damage to the lens.

In daily use, the use, inspection, and installation of optical lenses should be careful to protect the lenses from damage and contamination. Correct operation will extend the service life of the lens and reduce costs. On the contrary, it will reduce the service life. Therefore, it is particularly important to maintain the lens of the laser cutting machine. This article mainly introduces the maintenance method of the cutting machine lens.

1. Disassembly and installation of protective lenses
The protective lenses of the laser cutting machine are divided into upper protective lenses and lower protective lenses. The lower protective lenses are located at the bottom of the centering module and are easily polluted by smoke and dust. It is recommended to clean them once before starting work every day. The steps for removing and installing the protective lens are as follows: First, loosen the screws of the protective lens drawer, pinch the sides of the protective lens drawer with your thumb and index finger, and slowly pull out the drawer. Remember not to lose the sealing rings on the upper and lower surfaces. Then seal the drawer opening with adhesive tape to prevent dust from contaminating the focusing lens. When installing the lens, pay attention to: when installing, first install the protective lens, then press the sealing ring, and the collimator and focusing lenses are located inside the fiber optic cutting head. When disassembling, record their disassembly sequence to ensure its accuracy.

2. Precautions for using lenses
①. Optical surfaces such as focusing lenses, protective lenses, and QBH heads must be avoided from touching the surface of the lens directly with your hands to avoid scratches or corrosion on the mirror surface.
②. If there is oil stains or dust on the mirror surface, clean it in time. Do not use any water, detergent, etc. to clean the surface of the optical lens, otherwise it will seriously affect the use of the lens.
③. During use, please be careful not to place the lens in a dark and humid place, which will cause the optical lens to age.
④. When installing or replacing the reflector, focusing lens and protective lens, please be careful not to use too much pressure, otherwise the optical lens will be deformed and affect the beam quality.

3. Precautions for lens installation
When installing or replacing optical lenses, please pay attention to the following matters:
①. Wear clean clothes, clean your hands with soap or detergent, and wear white gloves.
②. Do not touch the lens with your hands.
③. Take out the lens from the side to avoid direct contact with the lens surface.
④. When assembling the lens, do not blow air at the lens.
⑤. To avoid falling or collision, place the optical lens on the table with a few professional lens papers underneath.
⑥. Be careful when removing the optical lens to avoid bumps or falls.
⑦. Keep the lens seat clean. Before carefully placing the lens in the lens seat, use a clean air spray gun to clean off dust and dirt. Then gently place the lens in the lens seat.

4. Lens cleaning steps
Different lenses have different cleaning methods. When the mirror surface is flat and has no lens holder, use lens paper to clean it; when the mirror surface is curved or has a lens holder, use a cotton swab to clean it. The specific steps are as follows:
1). Lens paper cleaning steps
(1) Use an air spray gun to blow away the dust on the lens surface, clean the lens surface with alcohol or lens paper, place the smooth side of the lens paper flat on the lens surface, drop 2-3 drops of alcohol or acetone, and then pull the lens paper horizontally towards the operator, repeat the operation several times until it is clean.
(2) Do not apply pressure on the lens paper. If the mirror surface is very dirty, you can fold it in half 2-3 times.
(3) Do not use dry lens paper to drag directly on the mirror surface.
2). Cotton swab cleaning steps
(1). Use a spray gun to blow away the dust, and use a clean cotton swab to remove the dirt.
(2). Use a cotton swab dipped in high-purity alcohol or acetone to move in a circular motion from the center of the lens to clean the lens. After each week of wiping, replace it with another clean cotton swab until the lens is clean.
(3) Observe the cleaned lens until there is no dirt or spots on the surface.
(4) Do not use used cotton swabs to clean the lens. If there are debris on the surface, blow the lens surface with rubber air.
(5) The cleaned lens should not be exposed to the air. Install it as soon as possible or temporarily store it in a clean sealed container.

5. Storage of optical lenses
When storing optical lenses, pay attention to the effects of temperature and humidity. Generally, optical lenses should not be kept in low temperature or humid environments for a long time. During storage, avoid placing optical lenses in freezers or similar environments, because freezing will cause condensation and frost in the lenses, which will have an adverse effect on the quality of the optical lenses. When storing optical lenses, try to place them in a non-vibrating environment to avoid deformation of the lenses due to vibration, which will affect the performance.
