How to choose a laser cutting head?

For laser cutting heads, different configurations and powers correspond to cutting heads with different cutting effects. When choosing a laser cutting head, most companies believe that the higher the cost of the laser head, the better the cutting effect. However, this is not the case. So how to choose a suitable laser cutting head? Let’s analyze it for you today.

1. Optical parameters

Laser is the energy core of the laser cutting head. The primary factor affecting the operation of the laser cutting head is the optical parameters. Optical parameters include collimation focal length, focusing focal length, spot size, effective working focal length, adjustable focal length range, etc. These parameters are closely related to the cutting process of the laser cutting head. Whether different cutting processes can be effectively implemented, or whether the laser cutting head can meet the requirements of a certain process, depends on the appropriate optical parameters. When choosing a laser cutting head, optical parameters of all aspects should be given priority.

2. Compatibility

The laser cutting head needs to cooperate with a variety of equipment to complete the cutting work, such as laser cutting machines, chillers, lasers, etc. The strength of the manufacturer determines the compatibility of the laser cutting head. The laser cutting head with good compatibility has strong working coordination ability and will not affect the performance of other equipment. It can effectively improve the work efficiency for workpiece production.

3. Power and heat dissipation

The power of the laser cutting head determines how thick the plate can be cut, and the heat dissipation determines the cutting time. Therefore, in batch production, special attention should be paid to the performance of power and heat dissipation.

4. Cutting accuracy

Cutting accuracy is the basis for selecting a laser cutting head. This cutting accuracy refers to the contour accuracy of the workpiece when cutting, rather than the static accuracy marked on the sample. The difference between a good laser cutting head and a bad laser cutting head lies in whether the accuracy changes when cutting parts at high speed. And whether the consistency of the workpiece at different positions changes.

5. Cutting efficiency

Cutting efficiency is an important indicator to measure the performance of a laser cutting head. Cutting efficiency refers to the time when the workpiece is cut, rather than simply looking at the cutting speed. The higher the cutting efficiency, the higher the processing cost and the lower the operating cost.
